Minutes of last meeting
The minutes of the last meeting having previously been circulated to Councillors were approved and signed by the Chairman.

Proposed Expenditure
In accordance with S O No. 40 it was proposed by D Grimes and seconded by J O’Hare that the following expenditure be approved
Four County Services Virus Protection £45.83
P Ashcroft stated that she thinks there is some way of obtaining this protection free via Dorset C C but has no idea who to contact.

In accordance with S O No.40 it was proposed by D Grimes and seconded by J O’Hare that the following cheques be signed

Proposed addition to S O No. 17
It was proposed by J Cowley and seconded by P Ashcroft that the following be added to S O No. 17 in respect of Resolutions Moved on Notice “The Clerk having received a proposal or recommendation, may advise the proposed or mover regarding the wording, but the councillor’s view shall be paramount in all cases” All agreed
The Ring Beds
Letter from Mrs N Smith with prices and details of suggested work needed on the Ring and shrubs and heathers required. It was proposed by J Cowley and seconded by D Grimes that the work be carried out. Agreed.

Roof Repairs 8 Ring Street
The Clerk advised that 3 quotations for the necessary work to replace felt and battens over the whole roof now received as follows:
Dylan Faber Roofing Ltd - £5,675.00 plus VAT
Rowsell Roofing Ltd - £4,405.00 plus VAT
Roy Spicer Roofing Ltd - £4,000.00 plus VAT
It was proposed by P Ashcroft and seconded by J O’Hare that the quotation from Roy Spicer be accepted. All agreed.

Pedestrian Crossing
D Neal advised that the Scouts are willing to deliver the leaflet over the weekend of 1/2nd April for a donation of £50. This was agreed. R Penfold will arrange the printing in plenty of time for this delivery. A supply of paper already received. When printed, an evening for folding leaflets to be arranged. An advert to be put in the BVMagazine edition of 31st March emphasising need for reply to leaflet. Leaflets for Knightstone Court, The Old Rectory, Sandhills and Hillcrest to be delivered and picked up by Councillors. D Neal willing to drive volunteers to deliver to Stalbridge Weston and outlying Farms. J Cowley will assist. As still no reply received to letters to the County Treasurer, letter to go to Chief Exec.

Councillors’ Reports/Questions
J Wardell asked if anyone could remember a Diversion Order in respect of the footpath near to Keeper’s Cottage. Check with file
R Penfold advised that he had attended a meeting of the Management Cttee of Sturminster Youth Centre. He suggested that he might be made official representative for Stalbridge T C as quite a few Stalbridge youths attend. It was proposed by J Cowley and seconded by D Grimes that he be appointed , all agreed.
P Ashcroft advised that there was no new regarding the School
J Cowley reported that a group had attended the meeting at Melbury Abbas regarding improvements to the A350 but there appeared to be little movement regarding this
G Carr-Jones reported that progress is slow on the Town Plan project but at least we have been awarded a grant.
D Neal reported that some concern had been expressed regarding the safety of The Clerk when in the office on her own. Possible “entry phone” system or bell system so that the door can be locked to be investigated.

Letter from Youth & Community Project asking if £5,000 could be put aside for use in an emergency as additional costs have been incurred on the project. This was agreed in principal but terms and conditions to be agreed at the time.
