Lantern Parade 2017 Final update

13/11/2017

Picture
We are almost there now!
It's only a few days to the 2017 Stalbright Christmas Lantern parade and we have 176 lanterns in the parade.

As Stalbright is responsible for insuring the parade we require all participants in the parade to be registered in order to be covered by our insurance.
So, in a nutshell,
No registration , no wristband, no insurance cover - no joining the parade.

Here's an FAQ section to help you get ready:
Don’t forget to wrap up Warm & make it festive with Santa hats etc. &
Please bring bells, whistles and shakers .

How do I light up my lantern ? - This year we are asking you to provide lights for your lanterns. These could be a battery powered torch, LED light or a small set of fairly lights. Don’t forget to check your batteries are good for the event and no naked flames are permitted.
Is there an age limit to take part in the Parade? - There is no age limit to participate, however any children being registered MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Where do I go to join the start of the Parade? - The parade start point is at Stalbridge Close, please gather on the central grassed area by 17.15 and no later than 17.30. On arrival please find your group leader, they will be holding gold lanterns with a picture of your group name .
What if I have just registered just for the parade?  – On arrival please find the group leader for the
'Kings ' (John Foster-Pegg) he will issue your wrist bands.
Please note parking is not permitted in the Close and pedestrian access is via Ring Street.
How will I know where to go? – Once with your group your Group Leader will lead you though the parade and will help you with any issues on the night. The route leaves Stalbridge Close at 5.45pm and turns left up Ring Street towards The Ring.
What happens when the parade gets to The Ring ? - The Ring , The Cutting and a stretch of Lower Rd adjacent to Anglesey Cottages are safe viewing areas as the roads will been closed to traffic.
When the parade arrives the Angels group (Choir) will gather on Lower Road in front of the stage and the rest of the parade will enter at the lit point of The Ring ready for the interactive Christmas Story, carols and the lighting of the Lime Ring tree.
(Whilst on The Ring please take care near the edges that have a drop and ensure there is no climbing up and down the walls )
What happens after the lighting of the lime tree? - At the end of the event  parents are responsible for making sure their children exit The Ring in a safe manner through the lit points only
PLEASE DO NOT EXIT OVER THE WALL.
So there you have it!  If you have any questions, get in touch with us via email  clerk@stalbridgetowncouncil.gov.uk or through our Facebook group.

Stalbridge 2017 Chrismas Lantern Parade Information

As Stalbright is responsible for insuring the parade we require all participants in the parade to be registered in order to be covered by our insurance.
Lantern making sessions - Run over 2 hours in the AM & PM.  Advance place booking is essential, there is no facility for booking on the day. You can arrive any time within your 2 hour slot as long as you leave enough time to finish your lanterns before the session end time.
Unfortunately our tinsel amnesty has flopped so if you wish to have tinsel on your lantern please bring it with you or add at home.
Please do not bring glitter or electrical items that need to be plugged in to the making sessions.
Those booked for making sessions will be automatically registered for the parade. The parade is separated into groups with leaders. At the making sessions you can choose your group  and a pair of wristbands marked with your group will be issued.
These wristbands entitle you to be part of the Parade on Friday 1st December.
Light it up - This year we would like as many people as possible in the parade to be carrying lanterns. So we are endeavouring to supply each adult accompanying lantern carrying children with their own lantern to take home from the making sessions. You can decorate it at home or just leave it plain and put a light inside.
So, in a nutshell,
No registration , no wristband, no insurance cover - no joining the parade.
